Abu Dhabi Ports has announced the successful implementation of a new terminal operating system, Jade Master Terminal, at Mina Zayed. The port is one of seven in Abu Dhabi that will be upgraded eventually. The new terminal operating system will next be implemented at Khalifa port’s general cargo and ro-ro terminals in August and thereafter across the remainder of Abu Dhabi Ports facilities.
According to Gary Lemke, executive vice president, ports, “The implementation of the new technology at Zayed Port is a significant milestone for us as the system generates real time data and insight that can better serve customers. By driving greater efficiencies in cargo handling, and shaping and driving our investment plans, it is helping Abu Dhabi Ports to achieve its goal of becoming the leading general cargo port operator in the region.”
Jade Master Terminal is a proven technology with a strong track record, and is expected to further increase Abu Dhabi Ports’ ability to handle growing general cargo volumes. Its adoption should provide more accurate cargo information before vessel arrival in order for Abu Dhabi Ports to plan operations well in advance. The software is also designed to help reduce the time required for delivery and queues at the terminal; facilitate centralised and automated invoicing, thereby reducing the risk of incorrect charges as well as time required to produce invoices; and allow terminal operators to accurately track and trace cargo in the yard.
