Between 14th-20th June over 5,500 Indian crew were signed off from three cruise ships at Mumbai and Goa in operations supervised by the J.M. Baxi group. Celebrity Infinity and Anthem of the Seas arrived at the Mumbai anchorage, where Covid-19 testing for about 4,550 crew was carried over the course of approximately 36 hours. Subsequently crew members belonging to states other than Goa were disembarked, while those for Goa were transferred from Anthem of the Seas to Celebrity Infinity, as Anthem of the Seas, the eighth largest cruise ship in the world, could not be berthed in Goa. Subsequently a third cruise vessel, Pullmantur Horizon, also arrived at the Mumbai anchorage to disembark crew.
All three ships handled during the week belonged to the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line (RCCL) Group. “Having done a total of 5,489 sign offs from three ships, with a maximum of 1,145 in one day, puts RCCL and J. M. Baxi in a position to bid for a place in the Guinness Book of World Records!,” says Dhruv Kotak, J.M. Baxi’s Managing Director.
