
A number of significant changes to senior management at ports in the Middle East have been announced in recent weeks, In Dubai, DP World will turn a new page with Abdulla Bin Damithan being appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director of DP World, UAE Region and Jafza. He takes the reins from Mohammed Al Muallem, who has been promoted to Executive Vice President of DP World.
During his 20-year long career at DP World, Abdulla Bin Damithan has held leadership positions with a number of responsibilities, the most recent being Chief Commercial Officer for the UAE Region. Over the past two decades he has led different aspects of the business to commercial success, including ports and terminals.
Elsewhere, Ports Development Company (PDC), the owner and developer of King Abdullah Port in Saudi Arabia, has announced the appointment of Jay New as the CEO of the port. Jay most recently served as the CEO and General Manager of IPS/Hutchison Ports Dammam and has previously been a director of Gulftainer in the UAE.
In Jordan Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT) has appointed Soren Kofoed Jensen as the company’s new CEO, following on from the previous incumbent, Steven Yoogalingam. Jensen started his career with the Maersk Group in 2001 and in 2018 joined APM Terminals as the Chief Procurement Officer for the company’s global operations.
