
Rickmers-Line, a subsidiary of Bremen-based Zeaborn Group, has appointed Merchant Shipping Services (MSS) Pvt. Ltd. in Mumbai as its new agent in India, with effect from January 1st 2018. MSS has offices right across India and will take over all operational and sales activities for the project and heavy-lift liner services of Rickmers-Line, as performed through the RZ Carrier operation.
In future, the MSS Mumbai office will be the focal point for all commercial inquiries concerning Rickmers-Line business. Michael Nielsen, the owners representative for the company in the Middle East and India, says: “The nomination of Merchant Shipping is a signal of commitment to our customers in India. This is a country we continue to see as an important market, especially in the medium and long-term.”
Worldwide, Zeaborn Group has a team of close to 200 employees and currently controls a fleet of about 50 multi-purpose heavy-lift vessels with deadweight capacities of between 7,500 and 30,000 tonnes, and lifting capacities of up to 700 tonnes. Rickmers-Line is one of the world’s leading specialists in the global transportation of break bulk, heavy lift and project cargo by sea. Alongside its Round-the-World Pearl String Service, which connects the main business areas of the world on an eastbound rotation and employs nine sister vessels of the Superflex Heavy MPC Class, Rickmers offers liner services between the US, Europe the Middle East/India and South East Asia, from Asia to South America, as well as special charter sailings on demand along the trade lanes of these liner services.
