
The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways is organising the second edition of the Maritime India Summit (MIS), with Indian Prime Minister, Shri. Narendra Modi, inaugurating the MIS on March 2nd. The event, which will be held virtually with 24 partner countries, will showcase more than 400 projects and is expected to attract delegates from across the world.
The Shipping Corporation of India (SCI), along with NMPT and SDCL, have been entrusted with conducting the Breakout Session 3, with the topic “Opportunities in Maritime Financing and Insurance.” The session will be chaired by Mrs. H.K. Joshi, SCI chairman and managing director, and is scheduled to take place on 3rd March between 11.00 and 11.30 am Indian Standard Time.
The session aims to highlight the investment potential of the Indian maritime sector, in line with the Government of India’s Maritime Vision 2030. The session will cover key trends and developments in maritime banking and financial services, port and terminal financing, the financing of coastal, inland waterways and allied infrastructure as well as challenges relating to ship finance and how to fund the revival of the Indian shipbuilding sector. A panel discussion by various industry leaders about how India could become a reinsurance hub will follow.
