Stage 1 of Abu Dhabi Port’s Maqta Gateway project has reached its halfway point. With the new milestone, Abu Dhabi Ports can now offer fully integrated electronic messaging for transaction processing among port users. The testing of these messages will continue with various partners, Abu Dhabi Customs and Abu Dhabi Terminals.
An advanced port community system, Maqta Gateway aims to expedite and streamline trade across the Emirate by converting and implementing all port operations through a single point-of-access. The first phase of the project is expected to be completed by end of this year.
Developed in-house by Abu Dhabi Ports, together with the Centre of Excellence for Research and Technology, the commercial, research and training arm of the Abu Dhabi Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT), and under the supervision of Portic-Idom, Maqta Gateway will offer ports, exporters, importers, shipping lines, customs and government agencies a single point-of-access and real-time information significantly enhancing processing times and communication procedures.
Stage I, currently ongoing, focusses on serving container shipping lines and shipping agents. Although Stage I is specific to shipping lines and agents, all Maqta Gateway users will benefit from this stage through the information services offered. These include vessel schedules, cargo tracking and other strategic information that will help users set action plans accordingly.
