Maersk is now offering warehousing solutions for ExxonMobil maritime products at a location in Jebel Ali, in addition to the import container storage, intermodal transport, customs house brokerage, logistics and cross docking services that have traditionally been provided over a 15 year long working relationship between the two companies in the country. Under the new arrangement, Maersk will undertake warehouse management and planning, including the handling of products in the warehouse, their storage, physical inventory mapping, and all inbound and outbound processes. In addition to core warehousing activities, Maersk will also provide container import shuttling and customs clearance services.
Christopher Cook, Managing Director, Maersk UAE, said, “Currently our focus is on expanding our footprint in logistics and services by going beyond ocean shipping and warehousing is an extremely important part of this strategy. We are proud to be able to provide the right solutions for ExxonMobil’s products and are thankful to them for showing confidence in us.”
Maersk will be operating a warehouse in Jebel Ali with certain pallet positions reserved for ExxonMobil. However the company adds that the warehouse has enough capacity to increase operations for other customers in the future.
