India’s largely private sector shipping company, Great Eastern Shipping has taken delivery of a new Kamsarmax bulk carrier. The 81,600 dwt Jag Aakash was built at Tsuneishi Heavy Industries (Cebu) in the Philippines, having been ordered in 2013. It has since been sold on to third party owners. A similar sister ship, Jag Arnav, was delivered in June this year and is still being operated by GE Shipping.
The company’s current fleet now stands at 30 vessels, comprising 21 tankers and 9 dry bulk carriers totalling 2.36 million dwt. GE Shipping’s orderbook also comprises a further three dry bulk carriers and a product tanker.
