DP World’s Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) and Transworld Group have announced the signing of an agreement for the construction of a 50,000m2, dry and temperature-controlled distribution centre in Jafza. Warehouse construction is scheduled to begin in early 2024 and the facility is expected to be fully operational by 2025.
The facility, which will be developed by Jafza, represents a significant expansion for Transworld that will nearly double its capacity in the region, while simultaneously expanding logistics infrastructure in the Free Zone. This latest expansion comes hard on the heels of Transworld Group opening its new Cold Chain Distribution Centre in Jafza earlier this year.
Since establishing a presence Jafza in 2005, Transworld has grown rapidly, with its facility in the Free Zone serving as a central distribution hub, complementing the group’s logistics and shipowning businesses. The new facility will enhance Transworld’s capabilities further and will feature cold and frozen chambers to accommodate a range of temperature-sensitive products.
Dubai headquartered Transworld operates globally and the group’s activities include ship owning and management with interests in the container, bulk and tanker sectors, as well as supply chain management, inland transportation, freight forwarding, NVOCC operations, ship agency as project cargo transportation.
