Fast growing classification society, theĀ Indian Register of Shipping, has opened a new office in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The premises were recently inaugurated and have been operational since February 1st this year.
Coimbatore is one of the most industrialised cities in Tamil Nadu and IRS has serviced this region through its Cochin office in the past. However, it believes that, with increased business opportunities in the area, a dedicated office in Coimbatore will help to better serve the growing marine component industry in the hinterland. Furthermore, due to its geographical proximity, the Coimbatore office can be supported by IRSā Kochi Survey Station whenever needed.
Existing customers in the area include: Elgi Sauer Compressors, Flowserve India Controls India, Shanthi Gears, CRI Pumps, Ayiswarya Polymers, LR Fabrications, SLV Engineering, Turbo Mot India, Yesco Castings, Damper Technology.
In another initiative IRClass Academy, IRSā training arm, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding [MOU] with Singapore-based CSIM Systems, to cooperate and provide technical maritime and management training. CSIM will deliver IRClass Academy courses and utilise IRClass expertise. Both IRClass Academy and CSIM say they are committed to provide specialised training program to help meet the latest regulatory requirements and business challenges.
