
ICS Middle East appoints new leadership committee
A new leadership team is taking charge of the ICS Middle East branch for the 2026 to 2029 term, displaying a renewed commitment to maritime education, professional development and industry engagement across the region.
The incoming Chair is Ravi Shankar, with Janai Yagnamurthy as General Secretary and Vivek Sharma as Treasurer. They are joined by Dr. Krishna Prasad, as Head, Professional Development & Industry Outreach; Capt. Zarir Irani, Head, Membership & Networking; Shalini Muralidharan, Head, Education & Academic Affairs; and K. P. Sreekumar Menon, Head, Student Affairs & Community Engagement.
According to a statement welcoming the new committee, ICS Middle East says, “Their collective focus is clear: to strengthen the education ecosystem, deepen industry partnerships, grow membership, and create a meaningful pathway for students and members alike. The incoming Committee brings a genuine commitment to the ICS community and a shared determination to serve its members, students, maritime community and industry partners.”
The committee is structured to deliver on seven strategic priorities for the 2026 to 2029 term: strengthening the education ecosystem; expanding membership engagement; enhancing professional development programmes; building stronger industry partnerships and sponsorships; increasing community engagement; fostering leadership development through working groups; and advancing digital enablement across branch activities.
