Dubai-based Trustworthy.ae group is planning to invest around US$ 100 million at the Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi to develop an inland container depot (ICD), a container freight station and other facilities over the next five years. Sri Lanka’s Hayley’s Advantis group is also going to be a partner in this project, the company has confirmed.
The announcement was made at a celebration dinner at Burj al Arab hosted by Trustworthy.ae Group Chairman, His Highness Sheikh Maktoum Bin Hasher Bin Mana Al Maktoum, as well as senior directors from Trustworthy, HayleysAdvantis Limited, KIZAD, and Abu Dhabi Ports.
Construction of the new facilities, which will be operated by Hayleys Advantis, is expected to get underway in January 2019, and should become operational in June next year. According to Abdul Lathif, managing director, Trustworthy.ae Group, “The potential growth in container volumes over the coming years in Kizad implies the need to build an integrated facility within the port. Together with our partners we will provide services such as container handling, repairs and maintenance.”
The project represents Hayleys Advantis’ first venture in the Middle East market. The company says it plans to develop a world-class logistics operation in Kizad using its extensive expertise in this market.
