The eighth annual The Maritime Standard Tanker Conference, which takes place on Wednesday 8th November at the Atlantis, the Palm, Dubai, will feature a program centred largely issues around environmental protection and sustainability.
This is a pivotal time for the tanker sector, as it has to accelerate measures to achieve net zero by decarbonising operations. Consequently, one of the highlights of the TMS Tanker Conference is sure to be the opening Session 1, which has the theme ‘Setting green shipping strategy – policy choices for the tanker sector in uncertain markets.’
This session features senior executives from shipping, shipyard operations, ports, ship management, classification and recycling. Already confirmed are Capt. Abdulkareem Al Masabi, CEO of ADNOC Logistics & Services; Dr Ibrahim Al Nadhairi, CEO of Asyad Shipping & Drydock Services; Khalid Alhammad, President of Bahri Ship Management; Capt. Ammar Al Shaiba, CEO, Maritime Cluster and SAFEEN Group, AD Ports Group; Mark Darley, COO of Lloyds Register; Dr Anil Sharma, CEO of GMS; Emile Hoogsteden, CEO, Sohar Port and Freezone; and Captain BK Tyagi, Chairman and Managing Director of The Shipping Corporation of India.
Clive Woodbridge, Conference Editor, says, “The first session will set the tone and direction for the conference as a whole and feature some really high level speakers in the industry. People will want to hear how they are grappling with the strategic challenges of moving to net zero and I fully expect the presentations in this session will trigger plenty of discussion and debate and create learning opportunities that attendees will take away with them into their day jobs.”
