A 72,900 pallet capacity warehouse, designed to meet the needs of clients in a wide range of product categories, is now being developed by GAC Dubai. The company has recently broken ground on the site of its newest contract logistics facility, which will bring its total capacity to more than 200,000 pallet positions, serving customers active in the local and regional markets. The new warehouse is designed to complement GAC’s existing, and well established facilities at Jebel Ali and Dubai Airport Free Zones.
Construction of the three chamber warehouse and executive office complex in the Logistics District of Dubai South is due to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2017, with operations expected to go live in January 2018.
The facility will be set up to handle a diverse range of product categories including fast moving consumer goods (FMCG), food and beverages, and healthcare and beauty products classed as dangerous goods. The warehouse will further offer an extensive range of value added services and will be equipped with an environmentally-friendly cooling plant, water recycling capabilities, LED lighting and solar power.
GAC has a long-standing presence in the UAE logistics sector and opened the Middle East’s first distribution centre in Dubai in 1993. The 103,000 m2 GAC Logistics Park is still one of the region’s largest and most advanced facilities.
