The region’s leading container shipping company, United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) has announced the launch of a North Europe – US East Coast (NEU1) service as well as an order for 3500 reefer containers.
The new NEU1 service will have a weekly sailing schedule calling at five ports in North Europe, Le Havre, Antwerp, Rotterdam, Southampton and Bremerhaven and four on the US East Coast, New York, Norfolk, Charleston and Savannah.
Jørn Hinge, president and chief executive at UASC commented, “As an emerging global carrier that places customer service at the very heart of our operations, we are continuously exploring enhanced geographical reach and improved products, whilst always safeguarding reliability and service excellence. The US East Coast markets provide a significant opportunity for UASC and its customers and these new service offerings mark an important step in our evolution as well as giving a sense of our longer term aspirations.”
Following the recent delivery of 2000 new reefer units, UASC has now placed an additional order for 3500 reefer containers from the Japanese firm Daikin. The second phase of new reefer units will support the growth of existing services and enhance geographic access to new markets, especially in South America, following new partnerships with CMA CGM and Hamburg Süd.
