Albwardy Damen’s Fujairah shipyard recently celebrated 5 years without a single lost time incident (LTI). This success is said to be the result of the venture’s “intense focus on safety in everything that it does.”
The 5 years of LTI free operations was marked by a small ceremony at the Fujairah yard attended by local port authorities, clients of Albwardy Damen and other stakeholders. Speaking at the event, Lars Seistrup, managing director, Albwardy Damen, expressed his pride in the achievement and stressed that the venture would remain dedicated to safety going forwards.
“The fact that we have achieved this result over the last 5 years is in no small part due to the diligence and commitment of our employees who make a crucial contribution to the safety performance of our company. The fact that, together, we have accomplished this during what are very challenging conditions for the offshore industry, is a clear demonstration of our commitment to safety,” Mr. Seistrup said.
The yard, which is based in the Port of Fujairah, supports clients with both workshop and afloat repairs, employing around 150 people. Its scope of work includes hull and deck steel repairs, pipework, hydro-blasting and painting and mechanical work such as engine overhauls and hydraulic and electrical machinery repairs and upgrades. As well as Fujairah, Albwardy Damen provides shipbuilding, repair and diving services to the marine oil and gas related industries in Dubai and Sharjah.
