Asyad Drydock in Duqm has completed the building of its first new ship, a 15m workboat called Hulm Al Behar which has been delivered to an Omani shipping company which is part of the Khimji Ramdas group. The craft, which required 11,000 man-hours to build, has a maximum payload of 25 tons and a bollard pull rating of 8 tons. It is reported to have demonstrated high performance levels during testing by the relevant authorities in Oman.
According to Dr. Ibrahim Al-Nadhairi, Chief Executive Officer of Asyad Shipping and Drydock Services, “This project has been a significant opportunity for investing in the development of Omani talent in various engineering and managerial disciplines, and the start of shipbuilding services in our Duqm Drydock is a pivotal milestone for Oman. We look forward to being a new and prosperous brand in designing and building ships of all kinds, including fishing boats and tugboats.”
