Dubai-based maritime law firm Fichte & Co. has announced the setting up of a dedicated Iran Desk to focus on this increasingly important market. This will give the company the capacity, along with its existing long-standing presence in Iran, to facilitate clients’ Iran-related matters from the Dubai office.
The Iran Desk, led by Atoussa Mahmoudpour, aims to deliver the best advice for medium to large size companies on topics such as sanctions, business development, Iranian and international law and the development of business interests. Founder and managing partner, Jasamin Fichte, states, “The region is experiencing tremendous growth and change but the legal system remains difficult for companies to navigate without skilled legal consultants and litigators. We pride ourselves on our international expertise, coupled with our ability to litigate at a local and international level, and we look forward to taking on similar challenges in Iran.”
Fichte & Co.’s dedicated Iran team in Dubai brings together specialist lawyers from across its regional network. The team will be headed by senior associates who will guide colleagues on matters to do with Iran. Ms. Fichte adds, “Our approach is to meticulously utilise our Iranian and internationally trained experts to rapidly advise clients on recent updates to the sanctions regime. We have been advising international corporations on Iranian disputes, sanctions issues and risk advisory matters, including providing strategic advice on business risks, both before and during the implementation of Iranian sanctions. We now have the full capacity to assist interested entities to invest or to establish a presence in Iran.”
In addition Fichte points out that it has the expertise and experience to offer the same services to Iranian clients wishing to establish businesses abroad or to establish a partnership with foreign entities.
Atoussa Mahmoudpour, who heads the Iran Desk, joined Fichte & Co in 2016 in the capacity of Senior Associate. Atoussa is a British/Canadian qualified lawyer, working in the legal field since 2008. Prior to joining Fichte & Co, she established a physical presence in Tehran, Iran for over four years, running an international practice.
