Leading international marine and engineering consultancy, LOC Group, has launched a new Hull and Machinery (H&M) service. Dubai will be one of four main offices worldwide from which the service will be provided, along with London, New York and Singapore.
LOC already offers an extensive range of marine services and supports various aspects of marine transportation and marine construction. The new H&M service will provide marine casualty response support, covering everything from collisions and groundings, to fires, main and auxiliary machinery failures, main and auxiliary boiler failures and deck machinery failures.
The company’s H&M experts based in Dubai will attend salvage situations and conduct condition surveys in accordance with the Joint Hull Committee and Nordic formats. The team will also cover ports and terminals and associated marine equipment, builders risk and ship-repairers’ liability, fixed and floating objects and project cargo surveys.
LOC’s team will work with H&M insurers and their insured to prepare damage repair specifications, advising on the merits of competitive tenders, assisting owners’ and managers’ representatives in their negotiations with ship repair yards and ultimately advising H&M insurers on the level of repair costs.
The new service is the culmination of nearly two years of recruitment, training and preparation, Andrew Squire, chief executive, LOC says: “LOC’s new H&M service will provide our customers with expert advice delivered by a highly skilled team with broad experience and global reach, no matter where or what the incident might be. Our regional teams have extensive specialist knowledge and comprise surveyors, marine engineers, master mariners and naval architects with years of operating experience either at sea, in ship management roles, in shipyard repair positions or a combination of both.”
