Dubai-based shipbuilder, Grandweld, continues to attract business from regional clients and is in particular witnessing high levels of demand for 42m crew boats.
Recent contracts signed by the yard include orders from Wesal Shipping and Mars Marine Services, both long term clients of the company, which have each ordered two 42m aluminium crew boats to a Grandweld design. Managing director, Jamal Abki says, “We have now sold more than 60 42m crew boats. Its top speed of 28 knots is a major contributing factor as well as the design’s luxury seating, accommodation for VIP guests, larger deck space and enhanced comfort for the crew.” Other features include 360-degree visibility from the wheel house and a spacious passenger area which can take up to 100 personnel.
The company’s facility at Dubai Maritime City (DMC) adheres to the highest environmental and sustainability standards, which has helped it secure business in the demanding offshore segment. The yard has been awarded LEED Gold certificates by the US Green Building Council (USGBC) and is making extensive use of solar panels to provide power for its operations.
