Bahrain’s Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard (ASRY) has designated one of its repair berths for the handling of large shipments of construction materials, as local demand for these materials continues to grow.
According to the shipyard the aim is to ensure a steady supply and avoid disruptions, keeping construction and infrastructure projects within Bahrain on track. By making use of existing facilities, ASRY and its partners are helping to ease logistics constrains for companies bringing materials into the kingdom.
ASRY recently handled a vessel carrying more than 27,000 tonnes of building materials, as part of plans to bring in around 250,000 tonnes through the yard’s berth over the next few months.
ASRY Chief Executive Officer Dr Ahmed AlAbri said, “We take great pride in dedicating ASRY’s advanced logistics facilities to collaborate with national companies and facilitate import, storage, and distribution processes, delivering added value to building material suppliers while reinforcing the stability of Bahrain’s construction sector.”
Meanwhile has strengthened its position in the LNG carrier repair and maintenance segment by securing approved certification from one of the leading designers and providers of cryogenic containment systems, Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT). The accreditation recognises ASRY’s compliance with the required international standards for the repair and maintenance of LNG carriers. ASRY says it received this endorsement from GTT following a detailed assessment and review of its technical and operational capabilities, including shipyard infrastructure, expertise and workforce qualifications.
