Bahrain shipyard ASRY has taken steps to strengthen its senior management team, with the news that Sahar Ataei has joined the company as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), having previously worked with Bahrain’s national airline Gulf Air in a similar position.
ASRY Chief Executive, Andy Shaw, is clearly delighted at the yard’s ability to attract a candidate of her stature for this important role. He explained, “As ASRY stabilises its financial position and seeks greater efficiencies, we sought a candidate that combined deep financial knowledge with an understanding of the critical role the company plays in Bahrain’s economy. Sahar appreciates our mission to ensure sustainable shareholder returns while remaining a national employer of choice, and we look forward to her valuable contribution to our development.”
Sahar Ataei has more than 20 years’ experience in the Bahrain financial sector. She is also a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Financial Committee, and has sat on several Boards of Directors, including Gulf Hotels Group and Bahrain Airport Services. As CFO of ASRY, she will oversee the Human Resources, Financial and IT divisions.
