Sonihull, one of the world’s leading ultrasonic anti-fouling system suppliers, has opened a new office to serve the commercial shipping markets of the Middle East from a central location in Abu Dhabi. Heading the expansion in the region will be Lee Eccles, who has recently been appointed as Sonihull’s Director for the Middle East & South East Asia.
“This is a great opportunity for me to help Sonihull expand into this region,” said Eccles. “Located in the heart of the Arabian Gulf, all of the oil majors and tanker operators are on our doorstep and they are keen to adopt new technologies than can dramatically reduce their operating costs whilst protecting the environment form poisonous biocides.”
The company notes that it is currently taking extra precautions to prevent the spread of Coronavirus. Each antifouling project now goes through a rigorous pre-installation review to ensure that crews and installers do not come into contact with each other. Sonihull system familiarisation exercises, often previously done in the close quarters of an engine room, are now being completed via videolink to further reduce social contact between vessel crews and technicians.
