Part of the Al Raiya Group, Amaan Baghdad is establishing a “groundbreaking and ambitious” project to establish a floating maritime platform in Iraqi waters. The new facility, based around a jack up barge, will serve as a multi-functional hub offering a wide range of services, and will be operated as Basra Sea Support and Services (BSSS).
One of the main focuses of the BSSS project will be to provide high quality fuel oil meeting international standards. According to a statement by the company: “We understand the critical role of fuel in maritime operations and our platform will offer a wide range of fuel types to accommodate the needs of various vessels, contributing to the efficiency and sustainability of marine transportation in the area.” In addition to fuel oil, Amaan Baghdad says it will facilitate the sale of gas oil for various sectors, including maritime users.
As well as bunker services, the new floating maritime platform will offer fresh water, ship repair and maintenance, general supplies, crew transfer, waste management and healthcare services. To support the platform the company will time charter a number of vessels owned by the State Company for Maritime Transport (SCMT), a floating taker storage unit and a tugboat for ship-to-ship transfers.
