ADNOC L&S takes delivery of sixth LNG carrier
ADNOC Logistics & Services has taken delivery of its sixth 175,000 m³ newbuild LNG carrier, Al Taweelah, from Jiangnan Shipyard in China. The vessel is part of a $1.2 billion LNG vessel order placed in 2022 to expand its fleet to meet global market demand.
ADNOC L&S has committed the majority of the additional LNG capacity to long-term contracts with third party customers as well as ADNOC Group companies. Overall, some 60% of the revenue of ADNOC L&S and its AW Shipping joint venture is secured through long-term contracts, protecting it to a large extent against market volatility.
Equipped with various energy-efficient systems, the new 175,000 m³ LNG vessels are designed to reduce methane emissions by up to 50% compared to older-generation technology.
ADNOC L&S continues to expand its global fleet. In addition to the six LNG carriers already delivered, the company has a series of vessels under construction, including seven Very Large Ethane Carriers (VLECs) and four Very Large Ammonia Carriers (VLACs) as part of a US $1.9 billion order placed in 2024 by AW Shipping, a joint venture with Wanhua Chemical Group. In the same year, ADNOC L&S also ordered eight LNG carriers for approximately US $2.5 billion from Samsung Heavy Industries.
