ADNOC L&S and TA’ZIZ to Develop New Chemicals Export Port in Ruwai
ADNOC Logistics & Services (L&S) and TA’ZIZ have signed a 50-year agreement to develop a dedicated chemicals export port at the TA’ZIZ Industrial Chemicals Zone in Al Ruwais, UAE. Under the agreement, ADNOC L&S will build, own and operate the new port, while TA’ZIZ will utilise the facility to export chemicals and derivatives to global markets. Valued at over US$300 million, the port is expected to be completed by late 2026 and is projected to generate more than US$1.3 billion in revenue for ADNOC L&S over the first 27 years of operation.
The new facility will incorporate shore-to-ship power (cold ironing), allowing vessels to connect to the local clean-energy electricity grid while docked, significantly reducing emissions and supporting the UAE’s sustainability goals. The port will feature three berths — two liquid cargo berths for handling ammonia, methanol, caustic soda and other chemical products, and one dry cargo berth. The dry cargo berth will have priority access for TA’ZIZ operations, while ADNOC L&S will retain the right to utilise it for third-party business.
Once operational, the TA’ZIZ chemicals port will enhance Abu Dhabi’s industrial export capacity, strengthen the UAE’s position as a regional hub for petrochemicals, and support the nation’s strategy to drive sustainable, low-carbon industrial growth through innovation in logistics and maritime infrastructure.
