Six new vessels, designed and built in the UAE by Sharjah-based Albwardy Damen, have been purchased by ADNOC Logistics & Services to support a 25-year service agreement signed last year with the Petroleum Ports Authority covering all petroleum ports in Abu Dhabi. The vessels are all Damen Stan Tug 1606 type and these steel hulled, twin screw vessels are powered by two Caterpillar engines providing nearly 16 tonnes of bollard pull.
The line boats are multi-purpose craft and will be used by ADNOC L&S’ Logistics and Marine Services division for assisting in the berthing and unberthing of tankers, and handling hoses, at the oil terminals. Four of the vessels were delivered in May and another two in June 2021.
Captain Abdulkareem Al Masabi, CEO of ADNOC L&S, says: “We are committed to boost our operations by contributing to the development of high-end shipbuilding and repair capabilities within the UAE. The country is emerging as a global hub for maritime and shipping operations, and we continue to enhance the business environment for shipping and affiliated sectors through such targeted capital expenditure.”
