Fujairah port stands to benefit from a number of initiatives in the bunker fuel sector. BP and Sinopec Fuel Oil have recently announced the formation of a 50:50 marine fuels bunkering joint-venture, BP Sinopec Marine Fuels Pte Ltd. Based in Singapore, the joint venture will expand out from its partners existing bunkering locations and activities.
In addition to marine bunkering in Singapore, the joint venture will provide marine bunker sales a number of ports and it has been confirmed that Fujairah will be one of its key locations.
Meanwhile Gulf Petrochem Group has confirmed that it will begin bunkering operations at the Port of Fujairah. A license has been issued by the port authority and will see the company operate there under the name GP Bunkering FZE, with immediate effect.
“With our existing storage facilities in Fujairah and our ability to supply bunker fuel out of strategic locations across the globe, we are able to offer even more choice and flexibility to vessel owners,” said group director Prerit Goel. “And with the addition of our bunker supply offering out of Fujairah, the second largest bunker port in the world, we continue to enhance our reputation and seamlessly complement our global expansion plans.” GP Bunkering FZE will offer main grades such as RMG 380, RME 180, MGO DMA, and LSMGO subject to availability.
