Gulf Navigation and Scorpio Services have set up a new joint venture called Black Marlin Ship Management & Operation in Dubai, UAE, to deliver vessel management solutions for regional clients. Black Marlin will combine the partners’ existing ship management capabilities with data analytics, sustainability and regulatory compliance tools to benefit vessel owners.
The venture will be launched with eight vessels, four from each partner. The intention is for Black Marlin to expand to offer a range of services to cater to the needs of owners across various shipping sectors.
Ugo Romano, Managing Director of Scorpio MENA, expressed enthusiasm about the launch of Black Marlin, describing it as being “fully aligned with the future goals and vision we have’. He added:’ The seascape for technical management has never been so complex, given the need for energy efficiency, the dynamic expectations of regulators and end-users, and the imperative of assembling the right team of motivated professionals, both onboard and ashore, who can drive results. We believe that the excellent management team of Gulf Navigation, their astute business practices and honourable ethical standards make them a perfect partner for us.”
Monaco based Scorpio has experience in investing in crude oil and product tankers, gas carriers, dry bulk and containerships, as well as offshore and wind. The company has 14 offices worldwide and employs close to 1000 shore-based staff.
