Dubai-based Tristar Eships and MTM Ship Management of Singapore have formed a new joint venture, Tristar-MTM Ship Management, with the aim of maximising value retention for ship owners and investors across the GCC, Africa and worldwide. Headquartered in Singapore, with offices in Athens, Dubai and Mumbai, the joint venture will be managed by an independent team of ship management professionals overseen by senior members of the Tristar Eships and MTM Ship Management organisations.
Tristar-MTM Ship Management will initially manage vessels from within the Tristar Eships fleet but will pursue third party tonnage in due course, a statement indicated. Tim Coffin, CEO of Tristar Eships, added, “Both Tristar and the MTM Group are ship owners first, so we are inherently sensitive to value and maximising service to charterers. We observed a gap in the market to respond to the bespoke needs of owners in our region and partnering with a first-class ship manager with a similar focus on value delivers a solution to ship owners across our region and beyond.”
Tristar Eships, the maritime logistics division of the Dubai-based Tristar Group, operates a fleet of chemical and product tankers, dry cargo vessels, gas carriers, and coastal tonnage.
MTM Ship Management is the ship management division of MT Maritime Management USA which has been operating chemical tankers since 1980. The company operates four dedicated crewing centres in Mumbai, Delhi, Yangon and Manila and maintains a very high retention rate across its fleet.
