The recent commencement of the transportation of oil derivatives from the port of Khor Al-Zubair to regional waters involves a groundbreaking partnership between Al-Raiya Group and the Iraqi Ministry of Oil. This collaborative effort aims to streamline, regulate and oversee the transportation of oil and its derivatives, with a focus on ensuring the preservation of cargo quality and quantity.
To successfully execute this project, Al-Raiya Group’s maritime subsidiary is operating a number of tankers and additionally has moored several VLCCs in Iraqi territorial waters.
Al-Raiya Group tankers play a crucial role in loading the predetermined quantities of oil and its derivatives for export, as determined by the Oil Marketing Company (SOMO), which is affiliated with the Iraqi Ministry of Oil. These cargoes are then unloaded into storage tanks, where they await further transportation to the end consumers. In addition to facilitating the transfer from the oil tanker to the storage tanks, Al-Raiya Group offers a direct ship-to-ship service.
By more effectively organising delivery services for Iraqi oil to consumers and closely monitoring the quantities being transferred, the transportation of oil derivatives from the Khor Al-Zubair Port to regional waters is said to have resolved the technical and logistical issues that previously hindered the regional and international demand for Iraqi oil.
