RAK Ports has recently taken delivery of a new hydrographic survey vessel from Riviera Boat Builders in Sharjah. A naming ceremony took place in Saqr Port on Wednesday 12th July when the catamaran was named Kite.
The vessel, which is 13m long, and has a beam of 5.6m and a draft of 1.2m, has been constructed from GRP and is capable of a speed of 21 knots. Kite is fitted with advanced Teledyne-Reson multi-beam equipment to deliver high quality surveys.
RAK Ports’ Harbour Master, Captain Michael Magee, said: “Riviera have provided a second high quality vessel following on from the pilot boat, Eagle, which it delivered last year. Kite is specifically designed for survey work and provides a low vibration and stable platform for optimal survey result.” The new vessel will provide all of RAK Ports surveys but will be available for contract work if required.
