Container throughput at JN Port in India rose by 8.55 % in August this year, compared with August 2016 levels, with its terminals handling a total of 409,405 teu. The total container volume handled in the 2017/18 financial year to date, April to August 2017, reached just over 2 million teu, 6.18% higher than in the corresponding months of the 2016/2017 year.
Berths operated by JN Port Trusthad a container throughput of 667,000 teu in these five months,1.38% higher than in the preceding financial year, while the DP World facilities in the port recorded 522,000 teu, a rise of 7.77%. APM Terminals increased its market share the most, however, with an 11.36% increase compared with the equivalent 2016/17 period, handling over 830,000 teu.
JN Port Trust is also seeing good growth in other traffic segments. Dry bulk volumes were up by 1.96% between April and August, at over 311,000 tons; liquid bulk traffic up by 13.95% to just over 3 million tons; while total cargo traffic moving through the port was up by more than 6% at 27.53 million tons.
